Drivers Desperately Needed crack

Cheltenham Contact the Elderly group are desperate for 4-5 more drivers.

Many elderly people spend every day alone. Contact the Elderly offers relief, exchanging isolation and loneliness for companionship and an afternoon out with friends who care.

One Sunday afternoon a month members are taken out by volunteer drivers to a volunteer host’s home for Sunday tea. The same small group of 8-12 elderly people go out together, visiting a different host each month.

Suzan Hyland, National Volunteer Support Officer says “ Our members are in their 80’s, 90’s and 100’s, and live alone with little support and cannot go out without assistance, so regular outings mean so much to them. It’s something to look forward to and it’s a free service. Meeting up just once a month changes the lives of the elderly. They make new friends and the volunteers get so much from it too.

Isolated elderly people have very few options for social contact. If you could give a small amount of your time to make a huge difference to elderly people in your community.
