Winston's Wish Anniversary Abseil

Winston’s Wish, the leading childhood bereavement charity, invites you to the Anniversary Abseil at St James’ House, Cheltenham on Sunday 22nd May 2011.

The 60 foot drop will challenge the 200 participants to scale down the four floors of St James’ House to celebrate the first anniversary of Winston’s Wish being housed in the building.

A team of highly skilled instructors will ensure all participants from as young as eight have a memorable and safe experience. Abseiling on the day will be between 10.30am – 4.30pm and during the day there will be live music and entertainment for those cheering on the brave participants. To take part a non-refundable deposit of £20 per person is required to register and a minimum pledge of £50 per
person in sponsorship is required.

Individuals or teams of participants are encouraged to wear something beginning with ‘W’ - Wigs, Wings and anything else you can think of.

James deJode has already signed up for the event and explained his motivation for taking part. “I am doing this for my brother, who died in 2004 and left a son, who is now 16. The reason I am doing the abseil is because I want to overcome my fear of heights, which I know is irrational, and at the same time raise money for a very important charity.”

Speaking about the event Sally Davies, Regional Fundraising and Events Manager for Winston’s Wish said “We are looking forward to this exciting event and with your support we can help bereaved children and young people to tackle their fears of an uncertain future as they learn to live with their grief. Every penny raised will go towards the vital work that we do with bereaved children, young people and their families. You are guaranteed to have an experience you’ll never forget and a memory that will make you proud for years to come.”
