PSST... Wedding Make-Up Secrets

crack

As a bride, you want to look absolutely beautiful. A professional make-up artist can make all the difference. Savvy about the right colours, styles and ‘long-lasting make-up techniques’, a good artist will ensure you look naturally flawless, that it lasts all day and that you look fabulous in your photographs (which of course, will be around forever). In my experience, it’s also much needed time out on your wedding morning when you sit down to be pampered for an hour or so.

When choosing a make-up artist for your wedding, consider the following things:

Have you seen a portfolio of work and if so, do you like it?

Do you know what other brides have to say about the artist, and if so, does it reflect what you are looking for?

Would you like this person to be part of your wedding morning?

Will this person travel to you on your wedding day?

Some of you may decide that you would like to do your own make-up so here’s some tips to help you on your way:

Healthy Skin
Your skin must be in tip-top condition for your wedding day. This way, you will need to use less foundation and your complexion will look smoother, more natural and more flawless. Make sure you are using the right skincare products, drink plenty of water and try a pre-wedding de-tox for incredibly clear and radiant skin! If you need a little help, book yourself a course of pre-wedding facials where you will get all the tips and advice you need. Make-Up Bases
If you want your make-up to last, you need to apply a primer before anything else. This will create a smooth, even canvas on top of which you can create a natural, lasting and flawless make-up look. You will need three different primers, one for your face, one for your eyelids and one for your lips.

Flawless Skin
Choose a long lasting foundation and use it only where you need it. Apply the product to the T-zone and blend outwards and downwards, using a concealer on areas that need a little more coverage. The idea is that you create naturally flawless skin and not a ‘mask’. Use a large powder brush to dust bronzing powder all over your face finishing with a rosy blusher applied on the apples of your cheeks.

Sparkling Eyes
Choose soft, subtle shades and make sure you blend them well! Apply a light colour all over your eyelid, blending up to the brow bone and into the inner corner of your eye. Use a darker one (although not too dark!) on the outer part, blending it into the socket line. Apply a soft dark brown/black pencil eyeliner along upper lash line smudging to soften; use a white eyeliner inside the lower rim of the eye to brighten; and finish with 2-3 coats of black waterproof
mascara on upper and lower lashes.
