Where's Beechwood Bear?

Beechwood Shopping Centre’s mascot Beechwood Bear has emerged from his winter hibernation armed with treats for adults and children alike this Easter.

Our friendly bear will be appearing in two different shops in the centre, twice every weekday between 11 – 22 April, giving shoppers the chance to win Beechwood shopping vouchers.

Listeners to Star FM can hear a special catchphrase in our ‘Where’s Beechwood Bear’ competition and the first person to spot our bear and repeat the phrase to him while he’s in a shop will receive vouchers worth £100 to spend in that shop.

Good luck everyone and don’t forget, to be in with a chance of winning be sure to visit Beechwood. Even if you don’t win, Beechwood Bear could still have a treat for you – he will be handing out Thorntons mini eggs.

This year Beechwood Shopping Centre is 20 years old and there’s still chance to see an exhibition of photographs and newspaper cuttings from 1991, showing how the site looked before, during and after its construction. These will be on display in unit 18 next to Rise Records.

The fascinating pictures are sure to interest those who recall the shopping centre being built but they will also enable newcomers to the town to see the scale of the building and its dramatic effect on the landscape from the air.

Many may remember that Debenhams was the first to open and this was soon followed by Evans and Love It on the balcony level and we’re delighted that shoppers can still enjoy these fabulous stores today.
Also celebrating this year is Thorntons and our store could be one of 100 nationwide that holds the key to a trip to Thornton Park, the company’s chocolate factory in Derbyshire. One hundred customers have a chance to win in a competition that runs until September. One hundred golden keys have been hidden in Thorntons chocolate blocks, and who knows, there could be one in the Beechwood store!

But its not just eggs that could delight your friends and family this Easter. Our unique mix of independent shops and brand names have a range of gift ideas from the quirky to the conventional – a Garra rufa fish spa treatment from GarraSpa or the latest video from GameOn. Both can be found on the balcony level along with Edwina Edwards for a range of individual jewellery created by talented designers, DestinationSkin for anti-ageing and skincare treatments and Apple premium reseller Western Computer, who will soon be moving down to the ground floor.

Here our stores also include Disney, Animal, Silver Mine, World News, Book Extra, Green and Pleasant Interiors, Jewellery Stop, Next, Candles & More, Rise Records and Debenhams on two floors. Fresh Crust and Caffe La Scala provide the perfect choice for a delicious snack or refreshing drink if you need a break from all that shopping.

Beechwood is open seven days a week and there is undercover parking for 400 cars and if you’re visiting for the first time and need a little help finding us, the Sat Nav post code to enter is GL52 2RG.
