Prewer and Orsborn

Summer is fast approaching and lighting for your home may not be foremost in your mind but now is the time to start planning...and what better place to start than with the garden.

Liz Gentle, owner of Prewer and Orsborn lighting galleries in the Montpellier Courtyard, said that garden lighting is a booming business and the right effects can make an ordinary garden a magical place, and a safer one too.

Prewer and Orsborn is Cheltenham’s only independent lighting company providing a second to none personal service selling exclusive lights and lighting controls in their spectacular showrooms at the entrance to the Courtyard.

Liz said: “Garden lighting is very important and new low maintenance, low energy LED lights are wonderful for lighting patios or decking; highlighting features from statues to trees, ponds and waterfalls and illuminating pathways and drives.”

Liz offers a personal consultation service using her knowledge and design skills and can work either from plans or from a personal site visit. She said: “With fewer people moving home now there is an increase in building extensions to existing properties, and I am frequently being asked to plan the lighting for these. It is also a good time to take stock of what lighting you do have in your home, and plan well ahead.”

Liz can work with builders and architects to create a plan that will save you money – and create a unique finish that will add shine to your home! She can provide a lighting schedule outlining locations, numbers and styles of fittings and make suggestions based on the extensive range she has available to her to suit all budgets and needs.

Prewer and Orsborn has been based at The Courtyard for the last eight years and lights are sourced from suppliers all over the world – from Italy, Germany, Holland, Sweden and even further afield. Liz says: “We are always looking out for something unique and pride ourselves on being a business which puts the client’s needs at the forefront. Customers return to us year after year.”

The shop attracts new customers all the time while others discover the service online. The store has a wide selection of lighting on displays and is a dazzling jewel in the Courtyard’s crown. Walking in there you cannot but stop and stare at the gorgeous twinkling lights on show.

Liz also supplies lighting controls to save having garish banks of switches on view, and ‘scene setting’ whereby people can create their own special effects from bright lighting while cooking and organising the house to subtle lighting for relaxing over dinner and unwinding.

Prewer and Orsborn also have a website packed full of information and help which can make a perfect starting point.
