Raising Everyone's Spirits This Christmas crack

Beechwood Shopping Centre will be raising the spirits in the weeks before Christmas with a host of activities which began with the switch on of the Christmas illuminations on 20th November by Father Christmas, assisted by Beechwood Bear and Cinderella and her two ugly step sisters from the Everyman Theatre’s Christmas panto. StarFM were on hand to provide the countdown to the switch on with popular Cheltenham band The Ramrods providing the entertainment.

Beechwood has lined up a series of events to provide a traditional Christmas atmosphere and entertain shoppers in the few weeks before the big day. Throughout the festive period, the sounds of carols by Cambray Baptist Church choir, Winchcombe Community Choir and Berkhamstead School choir will warm the hearts of shoppers as they enjoy the centre decorations and the many delights offered by the shops as they search for the perfect Christmas treat for friends and loved ones.

On Saturday and Sunday, December 4 and 5, Beechwood once again supports the National Star College’s push to raise £1m to provide a new therapies centre, improved creative and performing arts facilities, essential life-skills residential accommodation and a new community and work-related centre. These facilities will make a huge difference to students, enabling them to overcome challenges, increase confidence, improve their quality of life, and open so many doors for the future. The College has been Beechwood’s chosen charity for 2010 and would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone who has donated so generously throughout the year.

The following week, Saturday, December 11, Beechwood are delighted to give children the chance to meet Santa and his real-life reindeer in the centre where they can have their picture taken next to Santa in his sleigh. A festive treat not to be missed.

Beechwood are also running two great Christmas competitions which will provide lucky winners with an extra special Christmas treat! The Christmas Tree competition runs from 26 Nov-12 December. Guess how tall the Beechwood Christmas Tree is from the bottom of the base to the tip of the star and you could win a £500 shopping spree in Beechwood, to be redeemed w/c 13 December.

Next there is the Find the Reindeer competition which runs from the 13 - 22 of December. Santa has lost his reindeer and needs help to find them. There are 9 reindeer displayed on shop windows within the Centre. Customers need to match the correct reindeer with the shop where it is hiding for a chance to win a £250 Wii family console bundle. The winner will be drawn and notified on 23rd December with the prize collected on Christmas Eve. Entry forms for both competitions are available next to the Christmas tree in the garden and in shops. Post your entries in the postbox next to the Christmas tree.

On Saturday 18th December Beechwood will round off the Christmas events with appearances by The Choir Factor, Cambray Baptist Church Choir and the Badgeworth Bellringers who will delight shoppers with their beautifully festive hand bell arrangements. Please see below for full details and times of all the centres performances. Details are also available on Beechwood’s website

For visitors, parking is easy with the car park accessible via Albion Street delivering you right into the heart of Beechwood and onto Cheltenham’s High Street making it the ideal choice for shoppers visiting the town. It all adds up to make Beechwood the perfect choice for your Christmas shopping visit.

Finally, from all the management and staff at Beechwood, have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
