Manns Drinks Stop
The key to any successful party over Christmas and New Year lies in serving the right drinks (as well as food and good company!) and Manns Drink Stop on the High Street has everything you need to create the perfect cocktail, a warming punch or to stock up your cellar.
Owned and run by Jaz for the past four years, Manns is a family business that thrives. Loyal customers return time after time knowing Jaz will do his best to stock their favourite tipples at the best price in town.
Jaz stepped up to take over the shop following a degree in Business and Finance at the City of Birmingham University and a job with Rover in Longbridge. He said: “My family started running an off licence back home in Birmingham and I used to work there while I was a student and know the business well. Rover were closing down so I decided to run the shop. We also have shops in Birmingham, Worcester and Nailsworth.”
Jaz is an offical sponsor of Gloucester rugby club and runs the store with his wife Ravi. He says that his success is due to the fact they are an independent company and cheaper than any other off licence or supermarket in the area. And that he has integrated with the community and specialises in providing what they want.
He said: “There are many Polish people living and working this end of town so I have learnt their language, speak Export English, and stock Polish beer and vodka. The same if anyone else comes in asking for a particular drink, I’ll try my best to get it for them.”
Jaz stocks a huge array of drinks from popular beers and lagers to fine wines and spirits. He also sells Lottery tickets (and has had some big winners), crisps, sweets and cigarettes.
Among the best sellers this Christmas are more unusual drinks given as gifts including 90% absinthe; Pussa’s Rum; Winter Pimms; Mead and Buckfast Tonic Wine.
So if you just need to stock up on drinks for the store cupboard, or are looking for something a little special, (NUS and wholesale discounts are available.) call in to Manns Drink Stop at 355 High Street (West End). They are open from 3-10.30pm seven days a week and from 12 noon to 11pm from 17th December. He is even open Christmas Day from 12-3pm.
