Cool Coco Beach
Emma Logan sampled super smart cocktails at Coco Beach...
Having been fortunate enough to have experienced some seriously sexy bars in Ibiza over the past few years, I approached the new cocktail bar, Coco Beach, in Cambray Place with not great expectation.
Coco Beach exudes coolness. On arrival you walk over a giant fish tank lit from the floor into the lounge area which has contemporary sofas, chairs and a hip bar showing spectacular surf scenes. The music is absolutely right for this kind of place and thankfully not too loud so you can have a decent conversation with your friends.
The Bar Manager Rob, is an expert in mixing cocktails. Only top quality spirits are used in the drinks, some of which are very obscure brands which have been specially sourced for Coco Beach.
I am a Champagne lover and decided to try for my first cocktail a Last Sunset, which is a mix of St. Germain, Plymouth Gin, Grenadine, Champagne and mint.
I was bowled over by the Gin based Clover Club a delicious mix of Framboise, Lemon, Raspberries and Egg White and the Vodka based Cucumber Smash which is hugely refreshing.
If Rum is your speciality then Oh Gosh! is divine. An orange based cocktail made with Doorly’s Rum. Finally onto the Mojito. There can be very good and very bad Mojito’s in this world.
At this point a girlfriend came bounding up to my table, to say we had to have one, as in her opinion, it’s the best in Cheltenham – so we tried it and yes, she was right, it certainly is the best Mojito in Cheltenham.
Coco Beach is open from 6pm-1am with a live DJ on Wednesday and Friday evenings. Coco Beach,30 Cambray Place, Cheltenham, GL50 1JP.
