New owners to breathe life into Manor By The Lake

Manor By The Lake, a 19th century gothic style Manor House on the outskirts of Cheltenham has new owners, Michael Chittenden and Tammy Madge. They plan to invest a six figure sum to restore the building to its former glory and enhance the facilities to create an exclusive hire venue for weddings, special occasions and corporate functions.

Tammy recalls the first time they saw Manor By The Lake: “we fell in love with the place as soon as we saw it. The building and grounds are magnificent and it is so unusual to have a property like this located so close to a town centre”.

Michael expanded on their plans: “we want to bring this wonderful venue back to life and finish it to an exceptionally high standard, whilst respecting the heritage and origins of the building”.

The Manor will feature a new ballroom that will hold up to 200 people and two function rooms capable of holding 80 people. The investment will also see the addition of 10 luxury bedrooms for guests attending exclusive hire events. The new owners hope to finish the function rooms and ballroom by August and the bedrooms by December 2013.

Michael is very aware of the importance of supporting the local economy: “whilst we are new to the area, Gloucestershire’s excellent reputation for food production is well known and we want to use local produce extensively and make that a feature of our catering”.

Tammy explains more about the venue’s focus “weddings will be a large part of what we will do. With our building, grounds and proximity to Cheltenham we’ll provide a wonderful option for people for both the wedding and any celebrations.

“The accommodation will also be a really attractive feature, with the character and beauty of the rooms and the quality of the fixtures, fittings and décor.

“We’ll also have a very strong offering for the business community, with ideal rooms well equipped with facilities for meetings, conferences, training and other events. “Manor By The Lake will also be available for celebrations and special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas parties, race meetings and local festivals. We will also be planning our own events as well as working with people who may want to hold their events at the Manor”.
