The Big Reveal

Drum roll please… by the time you’re reading this, our £20 million revamp will be complete, the new River Island store will have been trading for over a month and H&M may have just thrown open its doors!

River Island opened at the front of Regent Arcade on Friday 2nd August. At four times larger than the previous unit in the centre of the arcade, the double-storey unit now has a cool new children’s range and has employed 30 additional staff.

The store surprised us by opening a day early ahead of schedule, and its first weekend of trading was a roaring success. With the school holidays underway, the youngsters (and the not so young!) of Cheltenham flocked to see the new store and get their fashion fix.

New store manager Danielle Grice was excited about the positive reaction the people of Cheltenham had towards the store. She said: “People are really excited and it is a massive jump in size. River Island is refreshing a lot of its stores and has been prioritising the ones that are doing well. It has been a long time in the planning and it is great to see it finally open.”

River Island isn’t just for trendy teens. It’s an affordable, stylish brand that encompasses a variety of different styles and tastes. With a big celebrity following and a focus on wearable trends, River Island is a great place to visit for both essential staple pieces and show-stopping outfits.

Inside, the décor is ‘shabby chic’ with touches of boutique glamour. Perfectly presented, it captures the joy of shopping with its shopper-friendly layout and attention to detail.

Our top picks from the new store include the fluoro coral pencil dress (pictured, £40) and the cute denim range especially for kids, which can be found on the first floor. The accessories range on the ground floor has something to tempt every shoe fanatic or handbag addict, too.

Centre manager John Forward commented “We’re delighted to welcome the new bigger and brighter River Island store to Regent Arcade. They are trading well and it’s great news for the local economy that the new store has created 30 new jobs”.

River Island is open 7 days a week, so next time you’re in Cheltenham, why not pop in and take a look?

There’s even more to come... Alongside a few more top secret new signings in the near future, H&M is expected to open at Regent Arcade in mid September. Make sure you pick up the next issue of The Cheltonian for more information on this long-awaited new store!
