Festival kicks off Christmas in Winchcombe

Plans are under way for Winchcombe’s popular Christmas Festival which heralds a series of new Yuletide events in the town this year. From 5 pm on Tuesday 3rd December, the town centre will be buzzing with Christmas cheer as the third fun-packed Festival swings into action courtesy of Winchcombe Business Forum, supported by town groups and retailers.

North Street and Abbey Terrace will be closed to traffic as up to 35 stallholders sell everything from gifts and food, to jewellery, cakes, cards and refreshments. Music, dance and drama comes courtesy of local choirs, hand bell ringers, Happenstance Border Morris, Winchcombe Concert Brass, folk and street musicians and the Guide Hall will play host to Santa’s Grotto, plus craft activities for children. An ‘odd one out’ competition is also being run by retailers.

The Festival also marks the start of a series of late-night shopping evenings on Tuesday December 10th and 17th for Christmas gift-hunters.
Throughout December the Forum is running a free, Christmas Trail contest for primary school children.

By following a festive trail of letters around local shops and forming a word, two lucky youngsters could win a £25 gift voucher to be spent in the town. Trail entry forms are available from the Coventry Building
Society in the High Street.
