Optimal Fitness with Nick Alexander Jones
This month we have decided to have a little catch-up with Personal Trainer and Fitness Model Nick Alexander Jones as he prepares for the European and British Championships.
What are you currently working towards?
I am currently prepping for the biggest 3 shows of the year; first up is the European Championships: Arnold Classic in Madrid. The weekend after that are the British championships and then finally 4 weeks later is the Amateur Olympia World Championship. It is a pretty busy time for me!
Describe an average day.
Well, right now I'm prepping so it goes a little like this; up at 6am for fasted cardio and then back home for my first meal. After that I will eat every 3/3.5 hours leading up to my second workout which will be weight training normally around 6/7pm after I finish working. Then it's back home for my post workout meal, then some chill time before I prepare my meals ready for the next day. Then last meal of the day is about 30 minutes before bed.... then repeat the next day.
How did you decide that this was going to be your career path?
Ever since I was a child I have been a fitness fanatic. I was always involved in every sport I could be at school as well as outside clubs so I have always had that competitive and fitness element in my life. It was pretty much a given that this was going to be what I ended up doing with my life, I have had numerous jobs since retiring from playing professional American football but I could never just sit in an office 8 hours a day staring at a computer, that's just not me.
Who or what inspires you?
My family keep me inspired every day. The thought of making them proud is constantly pushing me to do and achieve more. I do the things I do for them.
What has been your proudest moment?
I like to think that I haven't yet had a proudest moment. The reason for this is because that implies that I have had satisfaction with something I have achieved. I won't be satisfied until I have reached my peak... So stay tuned!
What are your future goals?
My future goal is to win my IFBB pro card and compete on the professionalstage.
However in my life,my goal is to just grow my business and help as many people as possible to change their lives through fitness.
Can you give your top tips for anybody wanting to get into this profession?
Just do it. There are always reasons to not do something but if you have a drive to make things happen it is always possible.
